What is Internet Marketing? Most business people don’t know the answer to this question. What you should know about Internet marketing is at the minimum it could increase your business by around 10% on average. Even more impressive, effective Internet marketing has the potential to increase your business well over 100%.
The simple definition of internet marketing is the use of the internet to sell products and services. It doesn’t sound too complicated does it, but here’s the hard part, how is it done?
I’ve been working with Realtors for the past three years selling internet marketing. It should come as no surprise that internet marketing for Realtors isn’t much different than internet marketing for any business. In the next few paragraphs I’m going to give you a checklist of some of the most important things that you must have and to do in order to be successful with internet marketing.
The most important element that you’ll need is a website. There are two types of websites available today, informational websites that provides information without any expectation of getting anything back in return, and the second are lead capturing websites which gives out information in exchange for the visitor’s contact information. A lead capturing website is the type of website that you’ll need for business.
Once you have your website you’ll need a domain name that you’ll use as your web address so that people can find your website. Once you have your website and domain name your ready to get started on marketing your business on the internet, right? Of course the answer is most definitely no. Most business people believe that if they buy a website today they will become rich tomorrow. This is what I refer to as the MYTH. This way of thinking has made the template based website companies rich, but not the customer who buys the website packages from them. The truth is that most people don’t do their homework, or don’t understand the technology. Business owners buy website packages online ranging in price from as little as $9.99 per month up to $99.99 per month or more by the thousands everyday. Template websites are online application where the business owner picks a template and then edits the content to make it their own. Once the purchase is made most customers discover that it’s either to much work or to complicated and the end result is a loss of interest in the project resulting in a waste of time and money.
What’s even worse are those business owners who pay a professional web designer thousands of dollars for a fancy website with high hosting fees only to end up in the same place as those business owners who bought the cheaper template sites.
